C's First Dentist Appt!!

Cecilia had her first dentist appt this week at ~17 months old. Ok, so this does seem a little early.;) I know!! I'm crazy; I admit it. Wasn't the old recommendation to take them at three yrs old??... anyway - now, it's one. Per my AAP reference book, "Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommend that all children see a pediatric dentist and establish a 'dental home' by age one." Ok, I'm basically trying to make myself feel a little better about being crazy!!! Did she really need to see one right now? Hmmm, jury's out but oh well now!

Anyway, C did GREAT!! Jonathan's Mom and I took her, and we couldn't believe how good she was!! She brushed her teeth for the dentist, let him brush her teeth, let him look in her mouth with the "baby mirror," as he put it, etc.

Having fun in the waiting room. Yes, she was the youngest kiddo there.;)

Yep - getting into everything before the dentist came in...

Open wide!!

Wait, I get a Winnie the Pooh toothbrush!!? Yippy!!

All those pearly whites are coming in just perfect!!:)

Nurse, hand me my next tool please...

Almost done...!! Success!

Beaching it!!

We went to Orange Beach this weekend with the Hartels. Maurie's parents have a condo there - a big thanks to her wonderful parents for letting these two wildcats loose! We tried keeping the crumbs and stains to a minimum!!
Maurie and I were going to leave with the girls Thursday after MDO, but our sitter called that morning and sounded awful. She was sick!! Panic set in, as I frantically text messaged Maurie about our next move... which was - FIND ANOTHER SITTER!! So she and I began calling and texting girls and found someone! W.h.e.w.!! She couldn't leave until Friday morning (pooey!!) but Friday was better than no sitter at all! So, Friday morning we got an early start with the girls and the sitter. The girls were GREAT on the drive. We didn't stop once, and they kept each other entertained. They were too cute. We even ate lunch out when we arrived, and they were STILL good. Shocker! While there, we took them to the beach and pool - then had adult nights out for dinner and breakfast. Oh, how nice that was!! We can't wait to go back with these girls. They kept us smiling the entire time - and we got some much needed adult time in.

Raiding the pantry first thing Saturday morning...

The ladies man, Forrest

Trying out their new beach toys before we went down...

Ok, Mommies - we are ready to GO!!

Jonathan & C testing the water...

Matching beach babes...

Daddies & daughters... Saturday late afternoon they took the girls down to the pool solo and let us Moms get ready in peace!! Thanks, guys!

The best kiddie pool ever - 1 ft deep and no stairs!! Perfect!

This turtle tastes nummy!!!

Watch out, Mom - I'm about to squirt the back of your head!!

Mommies at dinner...

Btw, I need to switch to the iphone for Instagram!! Am I the only person who still has a blackberry?:( But I LOVE it. Oh, the dilemma.

A Fun Visit!!

Laura came in town from Atlanta for a short visit this week. We miss her already!! C and Aunt Laura had so much fun!! We kept Miss C with us most of Laura's visit. One night we did have a sitter, so we got some adult time in. Much needed!! Below are a few pics from lunch one afternoon. C was a sweetie at lunch so we could eat in peace (for the most part). Laura left Saturday, and that evening Jonathan and I headed to New Orleans with a group of friends for dinner at Commander's. It was so yum!! But I consumed enough calories for the week!!:(

Aunt Laura took me outside to pick flowers

Music Enthusiast!!

Our sweet girl LOVES music. She dances and shakes it ALL the time it which is so hilarious. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and don't make it a habit of walking around the house shimmying or dropping it like it's hot. Soooo, where does she get these moves from? Her daddy??;) Mother's Day Out?? This morning when I dropped her off, her teacher said "we have music at 9:30 am, and we know Cecilia will be excited. She's our biggest music enthusiast in the class!!" She does a super cute shimmy, she drops it, she shakes her hips and more... oh, that girl!!

I have GOT to get her fabulous dance moves on video soon!!

C enjoys music in any form!! Daddy has taught her a few things on the piano, and she loves it! We were having fun this morning before MDO.

Oh BOY!!

Our family had an exciting Easter!! Cecilia had a fun time hunting eggs (and eating candy!!), and we also found out Saturday afternoon that our new family addition will be a little boy!! We are using Jonathan's name - Jonathan Lester Duhon (Lester is a big family name) and will call him "Les." That name has been on my mind since before we even had Cecilia, so I'm glad we get to use it.;) I will be 18 weeks on Wednesday. So far, so good!

I haven't blogged much about this pregnancy; Cecilia keeps us SO busy that it is hard to focus on anything else!! But for the record, this pregnancy has been completely opposite of Cecilia. I was very sick, all day every day, until about two weeks ago. Thank goodness I feel better because chasing around a toddler and taking time to vomit multiple times a day wasn't very fun!! As expected, I also started to show WAY earlier than my first pregnancy. I remember being at a work conference at 16 weeks along with C wearing the same size work slacks I normally wore! This pregnancy, I felt like the minute I took the pregnancy test, I was huge. Maybe I was already too fat, but my tummy did start expanding immediately. Immediately!!

We feel very blessed and are excited to welcome a little boy. Let's hope Cecilia welcomes him too.;) We are leaving everything in God's hands and give Him all the glory for our lives and blessings!!

Our first Easter egg hunt at the Pennebakers!!

Got it, Daddy!!

I'm not giving these back!!

A fun group!!

Ready for the big reveal... We didn't do anything grand. We just had a gift wrapped to intro the addition. I'm so impatient that I'm surprised I was able to have a gift sitting at my house overnight (Jonathan took the sealed envelope to get it wrapped, of course. I SO couldn't have done it)!!

Playing around with Papa before we got started...

Eeeek!!

Daddy, please don't let it be a stinky boy!!

We were letting Cecilia do the honors but that was taking a bit long for me...

A blue bunny!! Little does Cecilia realize what that means right now...!

At least she is happy for now!;)

Look Mam-ma, I got another Easter gift!!

Maybe she did know what it meant. She threw it down.

Done with this bunny!! Bring me back outside to play!!

Aunt Sarah had made this before we opened the gift! This and a "Baby D" egg. I had no clue which name direction we were going with a girl, although I would have been MORE than happy with another little girl.:)

Ready for another hunt...

Ceci & Baxter Lee!

Let's eat some crawfish, Aunt Leah!!

Aunt Leah & Aunt Sarah are so funny!!

What a fun and exciting weekend!!

A Time-Out (And Fantastic Moms)!!

Well, Cecilia was put in time-out for the first time last week. And she isn't even 16 months old!! This was at our Mother's Day Out program. I walked up to find her standing in the crib peering over and I asked "oh, did she just wake up from a nap?" "No! She is in time-out!" Of course, I asked "why" - although I made it clear I was supportive of the teachers in their efforts to maintain a productive, calm classroom!! Miss Cecilia was obviously not contributing to that! Ms. Lisa told me Cecilia was following the teachers around, holding onto their legs. Then, when the kids had to sit down and play (teachers sitting with them), she was shoving kids out of the way to get on the teacher's lap! UMMMM, is it coincidence that my Mom had been in town the entire week prior, catering to C's every whine!? Jonathan's Mom also keeps C quite a bit (understatement), and she also finds it difficult to let C cry things out. Thus, I fully blame our Moms for this time-out! HA! But, do you blame them? C is the first grandchild on both sides, and I figure this type of treatment comes with that position. Fortunately, our family has a little brother/sister on the way, so C might begin realizing other babies are just as important as she is. Let's hope.

I meant to blog about my Mom being here... She came for a week and it was AWESOME. Of course, she has stayed with us many times before (especially the year I worked and our Moms rotated keeping C each week). My Mom had been sick recently, so she hadn't visited in some time though. I picked her up and told her I was now "on vacation." Vacation in my own home - which was still just as nice! Since we have the baby monitor in our room, as soon as I'd hear C wake up in the morning, I'd call my Mom's cell phone and tell her "she's up" ----- click! And Big Momma here would go back to bed. My Mom is THE BEST!! I was spoiled. Instead of being really productive like doing laundry, cleaning or cooking, I decided I would read a book. I borrowed it from my friend Maurie (Greg Iles' Turning Angel) and finished it before my Mom left. It was a page turner!
My Mom always gives me wonderful tips on child rearing and ensures me I'm doing a great job. Since the majority of the time I feel like I'm doing a horrible job at being a Mom! I can't wait for her next visit!!!!!!

....and in the meantime, boy do I have help from Jonathan's Mom!! She is a LIFESAVER and allows me to maintain my sanity. She keeps Cecilia ALL THE TIME, and I am so grateful to have her!! I'm looking forward to many visits to the fish camp in Bay St. Louis this summer.

MOMS ARE THE BEST, aren't they!?

Fun Pics!

After church a few weeks ago, we came home to absolutely gorgeous weather and our lawn in full bloom. I grabbed my camera for a little photo session. Cecilia was having so much fun.
